How do I add my firm's HST account in Online Accountant?

Hey lauren29,

QuickBooks Online Accountant offers a quick and easy way to manage the books of your various clients. As a cloud-based software, you always have access to the most up-to date file, without needing to worry about making sure your client also has access to it. We understand that accountants have their own books to worry about as well, so that's included in your account. I'll be happy to help you get set up.

You've most likely noticed that the left menu bar in your accountant firm is split up into two sections. The Your Practice section is where you keep track of your clients, and the work you need to do with their books. The Your Books section is like your firm's personal QuickBooks Online Plus account. Setting up your sales tax as an accountant is just a few simple steps:

  1. Head to the Taxes tab under Your Books and select Sales Tax.
  2. Click on Manage Sales Tax then click Add Tax.
  3. Select Add next to Provincial

From here you'll be able to set a filing frequency, choose between Cash or Accrual, and enter your HST number. For additional info, check out this great guide: How to set up a new sales tax code

Let me know if you have any other questions! I'm here to help you get everything set up.
