Hello. I just signed up for QuickBooks Online service and imported my QuickBooks Desktop company file. But what I go to any account, I no longer see its tax line mapping which I set up in the desktop application. Where did this information go? I prepare my own T2 returns with TurboTax Business Incorporated and without the tax line mapping information carried over, this services is totally useless to me.
Thanks for being a part of the QuickBooks family! I love that you're exploring your options to find the best fit for your business and I want to make sure you have the details you need to make an informed decision. I'm here to help.
QuickBooks Desktop is a great service when you want to get into the nitty gritty of managing your books, including setting up tax line mapping on your accounts in the Chart of Accounts. I know how this can be a big asset come tax time, and being able to easily enter that information into TurboTax Business Incorporated is a plus.
QuickBooks Online, a more streamlined QuickBooks product, has a lot to offer as well, but isn't always right for every business. Tax line mapping isn't currently a feature in the Online program, and I encourage you to leave feedback about this by following the steps outlined here: How do I submit feedback? QuickBooks Online also cannot import information into TurboTax Business Incorporated like QuickBooks Desktop can.
It sounds like these are essentials to your operations and in light of that, QuickBooks Desktop may still be the best fit for you. I appreciate being able to take control of your book setup and filing your T2s. If it's only been a short while since switching to QuickBooks Online, you should be able to seamlessly transition back to QuickBooks Desktop. If you need to reinstate your Desktop subscription, a support agent can lend a hand. Check out support options here: Intuit QuickBooks Desktop software support policies
