Currently, there's no option to turn it off once you enable the GST/HST sales tax in Quickbooks Online (QBO), Caitlyn. However, you can still manage your GST reporting and calculations manually. Let me get into the details below.
First, when entering sales transactions, such as invoices, you can manually input the sales tax amount instead of using the automated tax codes.
Here's how:
- Click on the +New.
- Then, click on Invoice.
- From there, just above the Total amount, you can see the box where the sales tax amount is filled in automatically. You can manually input the amount you want.

- Once done, click Save/Save and send.
Additionally, while you're unable to turn off the GST sales tax feature in QBO completely, you do have the option to make it inactive. However, please note that even if you set the GST sales tax as inactive, it will still appear in your reporting for any transactions where it was previously used.
Here's how to make it inactive:
- Navigate to the Sales Tax tab.
- From there, click Manage sales tax.
- Find and locate the specific sales tax you want to inactive, then click Make inactive.

Regarding sales tax reporting, you can utilize the "Customize Report" feature to filter the details you want to show in the report. This allows you to tailor the report to fit your needs and ensure all relevant information is included, you can refer to these articles:
