Hi, So if the return is not paid, then can't undo it before recording a payment?
Currently I have marked HST return filed but with wrong amount. I just want to undo it then correct the amount and then file it. Is it possible? Because I am not seeing undo option under actions.
So if I record the payment then will I start seeing the undo option? (it seems like unnecessary step but that is how system is working now then I will have to do it)
Thanks for joining us on this thread and sharing a bit about what's happened in your own QuickBooks Online account with your HST filing. Having precision in these numbers means less trouble later and avoids the need to make corrections after filing with the government outside of the program. I'd be happy to explain what's happening.
When undoing a sales tax filing in QuickBooks Online, there shouldn't be a payment attached to it, otherwise the program won't allow you to undo it. That being said, the Undo option is available in QuickBooks Online Accountant accounts for accountants helping clients with their bookkeeping. If you have a regular QuickBooks Online account, you won't see the option to undo the tax filing whether there's a payment recorded or not.
Regular QuickBooks Online users have two options to undo their sales tax filings: connect with an accountant who can do it for them with their tools or contact QuickBooks Online support to have an agent undo the filing. Feel free to go with whichever option works best for you.
If you'd like to connect with an accountant, the My Accountant tab can help. Here, you can invite someone you're already working with as a user to your books. You also have access to our database of QuickBooks-certified accountants via the Find a pro to help button.

hi there, so i am trying to undo a tax filling but it says you can't undo the filling because you recorded a payment and then when I go to view payments nothing shows up because I already deleted what else do I have to do to undo this tax filling? Thank you
Thanks for explaining the steps you've already taken to try to undo the sales tax filing in QuickBooks Online. With what you've described, you're on the right track and aren't missing any steps. I can explain the error that's coming up about deleting the sales tax payment when you've already done so.
In order to undo a sales tax filing in QuickBooks Online, it's important to first make sure that there aren't any payments associated with it, otherwise the program won't be able to undo it. Since you've already checked under the Payments section of your sales tax and there's nothing there, it sounds like you're running into the glitch that happens from time to time. The first thing you can do try the following troubleshooting steps to see if they help clear it out.
If those don't do the trick, feel free to connect with our support team using one of the options below.
