how do I enter an income tax refund

You can record your income tax refund by creating a deposit, Nancy.

But to make sure you keep your records clean, consider setting up a dedicated account to track the refund if one hasn't been created yet. To do so, follow the steps below.

1. Click on the Gear icon and select Chart of accounts.
2. Press the New account button on the upper-right corner.
3. Enter an Account name.
4. Choose an Account type such as Other Income, and select a corresponding Detail type from the dropdown like Income.
   
5. (Optional) Add a Description to add extra information about this account.
6. Click Save.

Once the account is set up, you can record the refund as a deposit by following these steps:

1. Select the + New icon.
2. Choose Bank deposit.
3. From the Account dropdown, select the account you want to put the money into.
4. Enter the relevant details in the Add funds to this deposit section.
5. Click Save and close.
