Bank errors and missing transactions in QuickBooks Online
by Intuit•14• Updated 3 weeks ago
When you connect your online bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks, it will automatically download new transactions. If you don't see those new transactions in your account, here's what you can do.
Step 1: Start a manual download
To prompt a manual download:
- Go to Transactions, then Bank transactions (Take me there).
- Select Update.
Tip: If you see a message about additional authentication, follow the on-screen steps to continue the update.
This action will update all your connected bank and credit card accounts. The number of transactions in each account tile will increase if QuickBooks downloads new transactions.
Note: You will not be able to download bank transactions past 90 days. If you would like transactions older than 90 days, you will need to manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
Step 2: Check your bank or credit card's website
If downloads seem slow or stuck, the issue may be on the bank’s end. Sign in to your bank’s website to check.
- Go to your bank or credit card's website.
Note: If you're not sure what URL to use, find it by going to Bank transactions (Take me there), then select Link account. Search for your bank, select it, and copy the listed URL. - Sign in to your bank or credit card's website.
If you can sign in, it's a good sign that there isn't a major issue. Next, on your bank's website:
- Check your account for messages, notifications, or alerts.
- Look for any display issues as you navigate the website. These can block QuickBooks from downloading new transactions.
- Check your bank’s website for any announcements about new security requirements.
If everything looks good, go back to QuickBooks and prompt a manual download:
- Go to Transactions, then Bank transactions (Take me there).
- Select Update.
Step 3: Update your bank info in QuickBooks
If you’ve recently updated any information on your bank’s end, like your username or password, you’ll need to update it in QuickBooks as well.
- Go to Transactions, then Bank transactions (Take me there).
- Select the tile for the bank account. Then select Edit ✎.
- Select Edit sign in info.
- Update your info as needed.
- Start another manual download.
