Learn how to build custom reports using Report Builder. Report Builder uses Intuit Intelligence to build a report from a plain-language description. You don't need to select columns, filters, or groupings yourself.

How Report Builder works
Instead of building a report step by step, you describe what you want, and Intuit Intelligence builds it for you.
- Describe the report the same way you'd explain it to a colleague. For example: "Compare my customer payment times to similar construction businesses" or "Show me revenue by product line for the last 6 months."
- Report Builder uses your real company data. You don't need to select fields or filters yourself.
- You can keep refining the report after it's created. For example, ask it to break results down by customer type, or exclude certain accounts.
- Report Builder can create a wide range of reports from a description, even ones you may not know how to build manually. Since it's built on the same custom reporting engine as QuickBooks' existing Report Builder, anything you can create there, you can now also create by describing it in plain language.
Create a report
- Open Intuit Intelligence.

to open the chat panel. - Describe the report you want in plain language.
- Review the report Intuit Intelligence creates.
- Ask follow-up questions or request changes. For example: "Break down by customer type" or "Why are customers paying late?"
- Save the report. It is added to the Custom reports, so you can find it again later.
Tips for getting the report you want
Report Builder responds to how you describe your request. Being specific helps it build exactly what you need.
- Include the time period you want. For example: last quarter or year to date.
- Name the comparison you want, if any. For example: vs. industry average or vs. last year.
- Mention how you want the report grouped, such as by customer, by class, or by product line.
- If the first result isn't quite right, ask a follow-up instead of starting over. Report Builder can refine the same report.
What you need to know during beta
If Intuit Intelligence doesn't have the data needed to answer your request, it will let you know it can't complete that request.
