Customise reports and create custom summary reports in QuickBooks Online Accountant

Create custom reports for your firm, customise your layout, add rows or columns, or filter for specific data depending on your needs.

Tip: You can also go to your client's company to customise their reports.

Customise a report for your firm

Modify existing reports to get started.

1. Go to Reports (Take me there).
2. In the Find report by name ▼ dropdown, enter the name of a report or select one from the list.

Here's an overview of what you can customise:

• Display: Select whether customer, date, product/service, or supplier appears on the report.
• Compare: Select the time period and how you want to compare the difference.
• Filter: Select which customers, distribution accounts, suppliers, and products appear on the report.
• General options: Change things like the number format, non-zero or active values, and header/footer format.

After you customise the report, select Refresh report.

Create a custom summary report for your firm

Create a brand new report from scratch with no data. You can only create this report for your firm, not your clients.

1. Go to Reports (Take me there).
2. In the Find report by name ▼ dropdown, enter “Custom Summary Report” or search and select it from the list.
3. Select Customise.

In the customisation window, you can customise the reporting period, accounting method, and much more.

• Set the format and accounting method in the General section.
• Add or remove rows and columns in the Row/Columns section.
• Add or remove data points in the Filter section.

Select Run report after you customise the report.
