How to track the total sales by each salesperson without Class/Location tracking

SOLVEDby QuickBooks1Updated January 29, 2024

You may want to track the sales of your salesperson for the month for the commission payout, but you have already used the Class/Location tracking for other purposes.

To record the sales for the salesperson without Class/Location tracking:

  1. Select + New.
  2. Select Invoice.
  3. Fill in the customer’s name, terms and date.
  4. Select the small Gear icon on the top right, then + Add custom fields.
  5. Create a field such as Salesperson to input the name of your salesperson. Close the sliding pop up screen.
  6. Input the name of your salesperson at the new custom field.
  7. Fill in the information for the Product/Service and the amount.
  8. Select Save and close.

To generate the total sales made by the salesperson for a particular period:

  1. Go to Reports (Take me there).
  2. Enter Invoice list in the search bar.
  3. Select the small Gear icon, and tick on the new field created. (i.e. Salesperson).
  4. The corresponding name of the salesperson will appear in the respective invoice line.
  5. To filter the name of the individual salesperson, select Customise.
  6. In the Filter section, select the name of the new field created (i.e. Salesperson) and input the name of the salesperson.
  7. Select Run report.
  8. Repeat step 5 to step 7 to retrieve the records for other salespeople.
