Automate recurring tasks with AI skills in QuickBooks
by Intuit• Updated 3 weeks ago
Learn how to build and manage your own AI automations in QuickBooks using Intuit Intelligence.
AI skills turn a recurring task into an automation that runs on a schedule. You describe the task entirely in plain language, and Intuit Intelligence sets it up for you. Once created, you can see and manage every skill from Custom Automations.
| Note: This feature is currently in beta. That means it's still being tested and refined, so you might notice some things change as we improve it. |
How AI skills work
- Describe a recurring task in plain language. For example: "Summarise my sales every Monday." Intuit Intelligence turns it into a skill that runs automatically on a schedule.
- Or start from a ready-made template and customise it to fit how your business works.
- Custom Automations shows every skill you've set up, including whether it's running, paused, or has hit an error. It also keeps a full audit log of every run. Intuit Intelligence also suggests skills based on how you use QuickBooks.
- Custom Automations can only use functionality that already exists in Intuit Intelligence. Intuit Intelligence's capabilities are expanding over time, so more types of automations will become possible as new functionality rolls out.
Available template skills
- Invoice reminders
- Business health check
- Customer follow-up
- Books cleanup
- Revenue-to-cash tracker
- Profit & loss analysis
Manage your skills
From Custom Automations, you can:
- See every skill's current status: running, paused, or errored.
- View a full audit log of every run.
- Skills can be deleted or edited at any time.
Tips for describing a skill
Because you describe the skill yourself, being specific helps Intuit Intelligence set it up correctly.
- State how often you want it to run: daily, weekly, or on a specific day.
- Name who should receive the output, if relevant. For example, emailing you a summary.
- Mention any conditions. For example, only flag invoices more than 30 days overdue.
