There have not been any recent changes to the process for updating Budgets by Location in QuickBooks Online, Lauhanwee.
May I ask if you've created a Subdivided Budget and are trying to update its location on the Budget page? If so, I recommend clearing your browser's cache so the system can start fresh. Also, ensure you're using a supported browser to avoid compatibility issues.
Once done, update your Budgets by Location again to see if the issue persists:
Also, you can assign classes to your budget to represent meaningful segments in your company, see this article: Set budget targets for each class in QuickBooks Online.
If you're referring to a different Budget by Location, please let us know so we can further assist you.
Hi Heide,
1. I've done what you suggested (clear cache, tried different browsers) and still cannot see my Location budgets. The drop down list 'View Budget for' is blank.
2. I did a test budget on another company code. I created a Budget by Locations. This time, I can only amend it at the Consolidated level, even though I can see the Locations in the 'View Budget for' dropdown list.
3. Next I tried export, amend and then import a 2025 budget file. Again the exported budget file only shows Consolidated figures, not by Locations, even though I selected to export all Subdivided budgets.
4. Lastly, I exported an old 2024 budget file, and the subdivided budgets were exported! But the budget file is incomplete as not all the locations were there. What's going on? I'm confused.
I still think the budget by locations function is 'broken'. Any ideas?
