Hi it won’t let me link my bank account any help appreciated

I'm here to assist you in connecting your bank account to QuickBooks, Sophie.

To start, could you please share more details about your concern? Which bank are you trying to link? May I know the specific error message you receive when attempting to connect your bank to QuickBooks? Knowing this information will be crucial in providing you with a tailored solution.

In the meantime, you may check your financial institution's website for any notifications or alerts regarding ongoing maintenance that may prevent you from linking your bank.

Additionally, before linking your account to QuickBooks, it's important to ensure that your bank supports Open Banking connections. If it isn't listed, you can manually upload transactions instead. Here's how:

For customers using QuickBooks Sole Trader or Solopreneur

  1. Get transactions from your bank.
  2. Review the file format and size.
  3. Go to Transactions and select Bank transactions.

  4. Click the Upload transactions button.
  5. Select Drag and drop or select files and click the file you downloaded from your bank. Then, hit Continue.

  6. In the Account name dropdown, choose the account you want to upload the transactions into. Then, select Continue.
  7. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks and click Continue.
  8. Select the transactions you would like to import. Then, select Continue.
  9. Click Yes to confirm, then hit Got it.

For further information about this process, please refer to this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks.

Hi it won’t let me link my bank account any help appreciated

Let's work together to resolve this, Sophie. Ensuring your bank connection works smoothly and efficiently.

Before we proceed, could you confirm if you encounter any specific error message when you press the Continue tab after selecting HSBC? This is important in checking for any similar issues reported in the system and providing an accurate resolution.

Additionally, as my colleague suggested, verifying if your bank is undergoing any maintenance that could prevent the connection is essential. To do this, kindly visit your bank's official website to check for any notifications or alerts regarding ongoing maintenance activities.

If you've verified everything on your bank's end and the issue remains, I recommend accessing your account through an incognito window. This will help rule out any potential webpage issues. Here are the shortcut keys for opening an incognito window in various supported browsers:

  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

After starting a new private browsing session, please log into your QuickBooks account and check if this resolves the connectivity problem. If it does, clearing your browser's cache will help the program run smoothly and eliminate technical issues. You can also try using other devices and supported browsers as alternatives.

Moreover, I'll share this valuable resource that guides categorising your bank entries effectively: Categorise bank transactions in QuickBooks Sole Trader.

I'm still here if you have any other questions or need further assistance connecting your bank to the software. This thread is also open for handling your financial entries. The QuickBooks Community team is here to support you throughout this journey.
