Hi there

Thank you for your reply.

I am looking specifically at the Bookkeeping tab.

I'll try to explain this a little better, so with Monzo you can have pots of money specifically for 'bills', 'savings' etc which is within your account, it's the amounts in the pots I cannot see in the totals. For example if these were my numbers:

Bank balance (as shown in QuickBooks) £100 which is also the right amount in the front end of monzo). But I also have more money separated into pots, for example:
Pot 1 (in Monzo) - £200
Pot 2 (in Monzo) - £300
But I know overall I have a total balance of £600 but £500 of that are stored in 'pots'

Hope this makes more sense? I can only see the "£100". Is the only way to have an accurate bank balance is to take everything out of the pots?
Thanks

Thanks for getting back to us with that detailed explanation, mhcgarwood-gmail. :)

The pots feature is not supported in QuickBooks as these are not individual accounts with their own account numbers, instead, QuickBooks will read the current balance of the actual account. You could create individual savings accounts in QB for these, and transfer funds from the main account to this with No VAT, however, the 'in QuickBooks' balance for the main account will then not match your real-life balance, and would cause difficulties reconciling.

Hi, I have a question about the pots!
I have opened a Monzo account as i like the idea of the ‘pots’. Does quikbooks show the outgoing movement of money to a pot? So could you log that as an expense for example as ‘wages’ or ‘transfer’?

Thanks,

Hello there, Charlotte.

We recognize the urgency of this matter and want to ensure to provide the information you need to get this sorted out as soon as possible. Upon checking here on our system, Pots are still not available. However, you can track a pot by creating a new account in your Chart of Accounts inside QuickBooks Online (QBO). We'll gladly write down the steps to get you going:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of accounts.
  3. Select New. Depending on your account view, you’ll either see a panel labeled New account or New category. Select the option you see below for next steps.

For more details, see this page: Add an account to your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

When tracking transactions and what account to use, you can always reach out to your accountant. This way, they can guide you and give you the best way to handle this situation. If you don't have an accountant, I can help you find one. Feel free to visit this page to find an accountant for your business: Find a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
