We don't have any widespread issues with HSBC banking in QuickBooks Online.
If you continue to see the connection error, please troubleshoot by disconnecting and reconnecting the account. Before disconnecting, review any remaining transactions in the For review feed and then take note of the date of the last transaction (from the Categorised tab). This will prevent you from downloading the same transactions twice when you reconnect your account.
