Yes, you can disconnect the account you prefer to unlink, Sally.
Your online bank account automatically downloads recent transactions. Recording the same transactions manually will result in duplicates.
If you opt to maintain the account linked to QuickBooks, you must cease manually adding transactions. On the other hand, if you prefer to enter transactions manually, you can unlink the connected bank account.
Please review your transactions before disconnecting your bank account from QBO to avoid losing essential data.
Here are the steps to unlink the account:
- Go to Transactions, then select Bank transactions.
- Choose the bank account you want to disconnect, then click the pencil icon.

- Select Edit account info.
- Check the Disconnect this account on save box.
- Hit Save.
Take note of the last transaction date to prevent duplicate transactions if you choose to reconnect the account in the future.
Once transactions are categorized, the next step will be to reconcile transactions to ensure that the entries in QuickBooks match your bank statement, maintaining the balance and accuracy of your records.
