I want to enter an expense paid personally by the director. I have edited the director's loan account so that it is a "cash at bank and in hand" account type

and the detail type as cash in hand but when create an expense and the payment account of the DLA I get an error message "Check your account details before you continue. You may need to select a different type of account for your transaction." Please can someone advise what I need to to? thanks

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, @richturnbull-pro.

The error message your receive when creating an expense transaction is sometimes caused by your browser’s cache or cookies. Don't worry, we can clear them so you can keep track of your expenses accordingly.

First, let's access your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private or incognito window. You can utilize these keyboard shortcuts to save time:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

Once signed in, select Expense/Expenditure from the + New button to create an expense transaction. Enter the correct payment account and other details.

If you're able to do so without an issue, return to your regular browser and clear its cache. After that, log out and then log back into your account. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performance issues.

If the issue persists, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.

Furthermore, if you want to find out the monthly expenses you incur with each of your vendors, visit this article for the step-by-step guide on how to do this: Run and save a monthly expense report by the vendor.
