You might see an "unexpected error" message in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) if there is a temporary connection problem with your bank, talk2.
If you connected your bank account to QBSE using Open Banking, you will need to update your bank connection from time to time. Open Banking requires you to confirm your consent every 90 days.
To better isolate the issue, look for any alerts or messages that require your attention, such as new security terms or a one-time passcode. You may also need to respond to prompts on your bank’s website before you can renew the connection in QuickBooks. To identify and fix common bank connection errors, refer to this article: Fix bank connection errors in QuickBooks.
After you’ve completed these steps, reconsent your bank connection in the QBSE by following the steps below:
- Go to Transactions.
- Click the dropdown arrow next to Add transaction.
- Select Manage accounts.
- Find the name of the bank you need to reauthenticate, and tap Authenticate account.
- Follow the steps to reauthenticate the account.
After you reauthenticate your account, you can keep using all your online banking features as normal. For more details, see this article: How to reconsent your bank feed connection in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
