QuickBooks & Barclaycard issues

Hi there.

I am having issues connecting Barclaycard Business (UK) to QuickBooks. It's always been a little temperamental but now it just won't stay connected and I can't download my transactions. It  doesn't update, asks to reconnect to the account, I follow all steps, it says CONNECTED, then I click done, and straight away it asks to 'update your connection'. Its driving me crazy, I must have tried 50 times today. Different computers, different browsers, clearing cache, private browsing, I have tried it all. Please help! There are too many transactions there to disconnect and reconnect as I will loose them which I can't do. Please help.

QuickBooks & Barclaycard issues

This looks like open banking, Mikesavva. We're unable to support that kind of connection for Barclaycard.

You'll have to connect it through the standard feed. I'll help you out.

Regarding your transactions, you don't have to worry about losing them. Added and matched transactions will not be deleted. If you still have in the For Review tab, you'll have to add or match them.

Now, let's go ahead and disconnect the account. Here's how:

  1. Click Accounting, then go to Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select the account.
  3. Click the Account history drop-down arrow, then select click Edit.
  4. Tick the Disconnect this account on save box.
  5. Click Save and Close.

Next, let's reconnect the account. Here's how:

  1. Click Banking, then go to the Banking tab.
  2. Click Add account
  3. Type Barclaycard in the search field, then select Barclaycard Business (UK) - Other Accounts.
  4. Enter credentials, then click Connect

Once transactions are downloaded, you can assign, categorise, edit, and add your downloaded banking transactions. If you can see duplicate transactions, you can exclude them.

If there's anything else that I can do for you, please feel free to let me know.

QuickBooks & Barclaycard issues

I've tried this many times - as I think Mikesavva said he had done too.  I sent a query email to customer care yesterday but don't know if it was received as I didn't get the usual acknowledgement.

I received notification that we had 14 days to reconnect the Open Banking feeds (which had been working fine until 7th Feb), just last week.  Yesterday, I got an email saying that because we hadn't updated (we had up to 7th Feb), the feeds were disconnected.

Error code 580 or 590 comes up when trying to re-connect the Barclaycard Business card accounts.  Barclays Bank & PayPal accounts are still updating happily .

Barclaycard won't deal with the issue with me as it is an interface with QuickBooks (sigh!)

Anyone got any ideas what is happening?

I did as advised and deleted the connection and re-established it and it has worked perfectly since. I was nervous about losing transactions that I hadn't matched/processed or creating duplicates, but I can't see it has done that so it appears it is a good solution.

Hi Mikesavva and QuickBooks

I tried the advice again - I had missed the bit that said to choose Barclaycard Business (Other UK accounts) initially and I'm really pleased to confirm that it all works for us now too!

Thank you so much!

Hi

I am trying to follow this but your connection requires a passcode/account key - which I don't know where to find... I usually log in with PIN sentry - can you please advise?

There doesn't appear to be anything on the Barclaycard site that allows me to set up a passcode.

Let's check to see why you're required a passcode, android404.

Most banks are now using another layer of verification, aside from the usual username and password combo. Perhaps, there is a setting for this on your bank account. It could be that your bank requires passcodes for accounts that have third-party connections like QuickBooks. You may also ask your bank's Support about this.

On the other hand, banks may provide online banking connections per account type (business or personal), and each type may have different verification requirements. Barclaycard could be providing an online banking connection to a different account type.

Alternatively, you can upload your transactions to the Banking page.

You can also check out about assigning, categorising, editing, and adding downloaded banking transactions.

We'll to help you as you navigate through QuickBooks. Let us know if you still need help about connecting your account.

I use pin sentry to access the Barclaycard site - therefore there is no access code other than the one I generate - what exactly should I put in the access code as this doesn’t have the other requirements necessary to validate

It's good to have you back here, android404.

I agree with my colleague @JessT that this isn't supported by QuickBooks yet. You may reach out to your bank if there's a way you can connect with QBO without generating access code.

For now, you can manually download transactions into QuickBooks using our WebConnect feature. Please note that QBO only supports file size up to 350KB. Also, other supported formats file are Comma-Separated Values (CSV), Quicken (QFX), QuickBooks Online (QBO), and Microsoft Money (OFX).

Here's how to download transactions:

  1. Go to the Banking tab from the left menu.
  2. Click the Upload transactions.
  3. Click the Browse button and choose the file you downloaded from your bank.
  4. From the QuickBooks account drop-down arrow, select the account you want to upload the file into, then click Next.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions, then click Next.
  6. Select Let's go.

Once done, you can match and categorise them.

I'm also adding this article that will help you in reconciling your accounts for your guide.

I'm always here if you have more questions. Have a great day!

I am struggling with the same problem. Calling QUICK books and Barclaycard in sequence. Don't know how many times I must have called each party. But what  I hear is  - 'not our problem' depending on whom you call QB or Barclaycard. Hope somebody, somewhere, sometime will help me to resolve!!

We want to ensure you'll get the best service while also ensuring you'll get the help needed, @MALT.

With the new integrated banking connection, setting up your online banking has changed. I'd still recommend reaching out to the Technical Support of the Barclaycard Business Bank.

Someone from there can provide the steps needed so you can integrate your bank account into QuickBooks Online banking. You can read through this article to learn more about banking related tasks.

Let us know in the comments if you have any other questions. Always around ready to lend a hand.

Thanks for your quick response.

I have spoken to Barclaycard thrice in the last 24 hours. Barclaycard says - if you can access your online credit card account using your login and security credentials the system is working perfectly. The challenge is  I am able to access my online credit card account. But, when I start connecting the Barclaycard ( I have done this in the presence of your help desk rep by screen share ) with the same security credentials it fails to work. And, I am told by your helpdesk rep this is not within QB control. I have asked the Barclaycard guys to create a ticket for further investigation. They will take five days to come back. I don't think there is anything wrong in my steps since all the steps are done in a screen share mode in presence of your Rep!!

I am expecting QB should work in collaboration with Barclaycard to resolve the issue. Not asking the user to run between pilar and post.

My issue was the same, it was ultimately resolved by deleting the Barclaycard account in QB and reestablishing it as new so definately give that a try if not already done so. I've struggled with technical support with QB's too, far from ideal. Good luck

Done that. Doesn't work!!

This is definitely some kind of connectivity issue between you and Barclaycard - I can see that QBO has been granted 90 days access to my account (after successfully logging in with Pin sentry) - the error (590) is generated after the authentication has taken place.

Barclaycard support says it is not their problem - I think it must fall to QB tech support to step in and help us as we are clearly getting nowhere trying to sort this out ourselves.

This has only occurred since moving to the new open banking system.

I appreciate for reaching to your bank, @android404.

Allow me to provide information about this.

Currently, I've checked that there's an investigation case about the Barclaycard Bank connection to QuickBooks.

Our product engineers are working to find the cause and fix of the issue. The case code is INV-42579, where customers who migrate or set up online banking connection with Barclaycard Business gets error 590.

I recommend contacting our Care Support Team to attach your account to the investigation. This way, you'll be notified via email when the product engineers fixed the issue.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Help and then Contact Us.
  2. Enter your query and click Let's talk.
  3. Choose to Start a chat.

In the meantime, you can visit our blog site to stay current with our feature updates and content covering all aspects of a business.

Please feel free to leave a comment or tag me (Jovychris_A) if you need further assistance with QBO. I'll stay here to help. Have a good one!

After solving the problem temporarily (using Barclaycard Business (OTH)), the connections errors started again only now, you don't get the option to choose Barclaycard Business (OTH), only the standard one.  I've now been disconnected since 3rd March.

I spoke to QBO Support on Monday and they have added us to the list so that we get an update as soon as it is resolved.  Hopefully in time for the Open Banking live date which I believe is this Saturday 14th March.

So for now, it is a waiting game... I will update here if I get anything.

Hello Siobhan,

Welcome to the Community page,

Barclaycard is now on open banking so you should be able to update your account to is. Do you get any error messages or codes when you try to reconnect? The reason why you can't select the other account anymore is because all the standard bank feeds have been disconnected now due to the new open banking.

HI,  it doesn't work and hasn't done since 3rd March.  Attached is a screenshot of yet another attempt just made.  I have cleared cache, turned it off and on again, tried different browsers and incognito windows - just isn't working.  I can connect to all these accounts online directly

All the accounts are now disconnected and error 590 coming up whether trying to connect one Barclaycard Credit Card or any of the Barclaycard Chargecard accounts we have.  This is what I discussed with the helpline the other day and they said they were aware of the issue and would let me know when it is fixed.

Additionally, today Paypal account has also got a problem with the bank feed.  No error number given for this one though.

Standard Barclays Bank accounts all seem to be working  - fingers crossed!

Whoever hears first - let us know! Smiley Wink

Hello Siobhan,

Thanks for the screenshot and the information , No problem the agent you spoke with on the helpline will keep you posted,  so banking error 590 is a temporary error impacting your bank connection and should self resolve within 48 hours.

Hi Ashleigh1

Thank you for getting back to us - this issue has been happening for over a week already though.  Which is why I phoned the helpline on Monday.  The last time there were significant changes, it took nearly 4 months to resolve (it was a very strange Barclaycard coding issue - not anything that QuickBooks did but impacted on the login process) - hence my concern.

On high alert now! Smiley Wink
