Banking - cannot connect to my bank account as states I am already logged in to bank account

I am new to quick books and trying to link my bank account but although its registered the account it states an error that I am logged in on another device.  I have checked and I am not logged in.  I am currently unable to update bank account payments because of this.

Thanks for reaching out to he Community. Hopefully I can help.

 

If you are getting an error message saying you are still logged into another device I would recommend logging into any other device you might have used previously and logging out through the menu. Often people will simply allow their account to time out and log them out automatically from their device, while this would log them out it can still leave cookies that don't officially break the sign in connection.

 

Once this has been done I would go back to basic troubleshooting. This would be a case of clearing the cache and cookies and completely restarting the internet browser you are using to log in. Once this has been done if you go into the Banking page and click on the Pen icon in the top right of the banks box, you will have an option that says 'Edit Sign in info'. If you follow these steps it will completely reset the banks connection with QuickBooks.

 

As an alternative you would have the option to upload a csv file that you can download from your banks website. This will allow you to manually upload the transactions through QuickBooks on the Banking page.

Quickbooks sucks big time! I have several accounts with them but have already canceled 2. I have spent almost 13 hours on the phone with them in the last week and they are useless. Very frustrating to pay for a service that does not work.

Still having this issue despite following advice, logging out and back in again; resetting bank details etc etc. still not connecting...

Thanks for contacting the Community.

 

Another thing I would check is that you have not connected your bank account to any other QuickBooks Online accounts as this can also be counted as another device.

 

One other thing you can try is disconnecting the account and reconnecting. Before doing this please ensue there are no transactions in the For Review section as any transactions would be lost from this area. To disconnect go into the Banking page and click on the Pen icon in the top right of the banks box, you will have an option that says Edit Account info then tick the box which states Disconnect on Save. Once the account has been disconnected you will be able to reconnect your bank account. We would only advise this step after following all other steps a few times.

I have the same issue.

I looked at the trial and setup a dummy company with dummy details. However, I used my real bank details to see what comes across.  Everything looks ok.

Fast fwd 30 days and my trial has now expired, but i decide to go with QBO using my real details.

Try to connect to my bank and it says I cant do this, because I already have a login connection.

No problem, I'll just go to my dummy account and delete everything right?  Not quite - when you go over the trial, not much works.

I tried an option which says "disconnect this account on save" and uncheck this, but when i try to save this, but it comes up with a "something is not quite right, you have a JSON error in the data" or words to that effect.   Well, if you have a checkbox option to delete the account, surely you should have error traps to avoid these sorts of issues?

 

Right now, i still am unable to get my bank data, but also, I cant delete my old company.  There simply isn't an option, and even quickbooks cant do this (apparently) what a fantastic design!

 

if someone figures this out, please post below, since i don't fancy waiting 50 minutes for each phone call

Thanks for reaching out. Trial accounts cannot be cancelled as they don't have any billing associated, but will be made inactive when the trial expires and deleted after 12 months if not reactivated.

 

The error you are receiving when trying to disconnect the account is likely due to the account being inactive, and thus not being able to save changes, however is unrelated to the problem you are having connecting the bank in your new account.

 

The 179 error when connecting or updating an account is a response directly from the bank - it is suggesting you are actively logged into your online bank elsewhere (not via QuickBooks), such as through mobile banking. For most banks, it can take between 15 - 30 minutes from actively signing out of your bank for the bank to recognise the logout attempt and update their server, so try connecting your account in QuickBooks after this period.

Hi. I have not logged into any bank accounts all day, and since they time out after (seems like) 30 seconds or so, i should not be loggged in anywhere

 

you definitely have an issue, as you have other people complaining about the same issue elsewhere
