Unable to connect bank account

Thanks for reaching out to us, stefanbest0794. I want to ensure you'll be able to connect your bank to QBO.

There are some reasons your bank isn't linking to online banking in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'll share them below and guide you through the steps in finding and connecting the right one accordingly. If you're unable to link your bank, it's more likely that:

  • We have multiple names from your bank on our list. Double-check that you've selected the correct listing or tried all possible connections. Search by the banking sign-in URL to ensure the proper listing.
  • Your bank doesn't provide access to all sorts of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs. business accounts).
  • Your bank is undergoing system maintenance.
  • Your bank is not a participating financial institution.

Having said that, I'd recommend contacting your bank to confirm any maintenance updates or requests to connect to QBO. If everything is in order, ensure to use the correct bank name when linking the account.

Also, let's perform a few browser troubleshooting steps to determine why such a problem is not letting you connect your bank account. To begin with, let's consider QBO using a private browser. To use a private or incognito browser, here's how:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P
  • Edge: Ctrl Shift + N

If this works, it means you need to clear your browser's cache so the system can start fresh and you're now able to seamlessly connect your bank account. But if you get the same result while using a private browser, let's switch to different supported browsers instead.

Moreover, you can bring transactions into QBO if your bank supports certain types of file formats (QFX, QBO, CSV, and OFX). For detailed steps and guidelines, you can check out this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Once the transactions are in, we'll now need to match and categorise them to ensure they are allocated to the correct account in QBO.

Come back to this post if you have other concerns or follow-up questions about connecting Santander Bank to QBO. I'll be around to provide further assistance.
