Hi there I am trying to link my quickbooks online account to my clydesdale business account however it keeps coming up with the below message
The Clydesdale Bank (UK) site has a note for you.
Go to your bank site to respond, then return here to connect. (108)
When I go to my bank site I am unable to find the note it mentions anyone had same problem and how do you resolve it ?
Welcome to our Community.
I can certainly help you with connecting your bank with QuickBooks Online, the error code which you are receiving 108 is normally for an action required on Banks website. If there are no visible messages directly on Clydesdale bank needing action this could be hidden via a pop up blocker.
Please let us know if after checking these details for me whether you are able to connect to your bank, if you still receive the same error please let me know.
I dont appear to have a pop up blocker on my browser to stop this from happening but still no pop up on the clydesdale bank site.
I have spoken with our banking team and they have advised we have a few customers with this issue with Clydesdale bank, they have stated that there have been a new set of terms and conditions with Clydesdale bank for 2018, if you are not getting a pop up if you could just call the bank and advise you are trying to connect the bank to a third party and you need to accept the terms and conditions and they will sort this out for you
Any issues let us know
Hi Qucickbooks/Emma ,
I have the same issue with Clydesdale banking, it connects, asks me my secret questions, then gives me an error 108. I advised Clydesdale of this issue, but their tech team says everything is fine with my account. The fact I can log in fine backs this up. My internet acconut was opened today, so they advise me this should not have been affected by their system update that was made 'some weeks back'.
Do you have any more info. on issues connecting to a new clydesdale account ?
Hi Ramtronik, when you say "Your internet account was opened today" do you mean access to your Online Banking, where you can view and manage your accounts with Clydesdale? Have you only recently recieved a user ID or anything? - JamesC^
Try clicking the little pencil in the bank balance box, then edit sign in information; update the sign in information to match that which you would use to log into Clydesdale online banking, and follow the instructions on screen.
If you still get the same message, let me know please
that's very unclear.
I have found 2 such boxes.
1: Banking ... Banking ... a pencil is displayed in the blue balance box. this pencil does not have any sign-in settings. presumably because of the aforementioned error, I have been unable to link the account.
2: Dashboard ... bank accounts ... the pencil here only gives me the ability to reorder accounts.
in the same section, the 'connect accounts' takes m to the same wizard I initially used. I have tried this again. same error 108.
clicking the current account from this section takes me back to (1:), so, like I said, your instruction does not tally with my user interface.
Thanks for the additional information, Ramtronik Software.
You might want to go to the Banking page to edit your bank's sign-in information. Let me give the steps to do this:
Though, the Error 108 might not allow you to update the information in QuickBooks Online. This error requires you to take action on your bank's website. More likely, they've added a new security function, new terms of service, special offers, or maintenance updates.
I'd recommend reaching out to your bank about this.
Afterwards, you can update the Banking page manually to refresh the connection between your bank's website and QuickBooks.
You can always reach out to us if you need more assistance with this.
Hi James Duan T/james C,
I am posting this for the benefit of any other people, who, like myself, stumbled on this forum from an Internet search ....
I have successfully connected to my account with Sage, which only took me about 10 minutes. So, Sage it is from now on, I've unsubscribed from QuickBooks.
The problem is NOT with Clydesdale bank, at least not on this occasion.
Clydesdale bank have ‘upgraded’ their online system. This removed the QB bank feed functionality.
The bank website says to use ‘export transactions’ online and then import the data to your QB account.
The 108 error is caused by Clydesdale, they ‘have it on their list’ with no date of when feeds will be enabled.
Data export works fine, however I find the dates on my transactions change online after export, moving a few days, this means QB tx dates will not match your statements.
Clydesdale are investigating this for 3 months...
We are happy for the information that you have shared.
We are well aware of the error and we did had this investigation created a couple months ago. Once the Clydesdale finalizes any updates or upcoming upgrades on their website this will surely be resolved.
I suggest to reach out our live support to include your accounr on the escalation and prioritize the investigation. Please go to this link to contact our live channels: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_GB/contact
For the meantime importing Bank transactions to continue working on your books. For helpful article on how to import, please see below:
Please drop me a comment for further questions.
I too, have this annoying issue where I cannot connect to my clydesdale bank account which has really affected me and my business over the last few months.
I think it is all to do with their upgraded banking system and I just hope that it does update soon and work with quickbooks.
Has anyone had any success with Clydesdale making allowance to connect to this plugin?
When I called them, they said they dont connect to any 3rd party plugin as its a breach of security, but it worked fine for over a year before.
I have not been able to do my accounts for a couple of months now.
Is Clydesdale Bank or Quickbooks doing anything on this? Trying to get this to work... or are we just hoping that one day something will happen?
You can export transactions and upload them after formatting into QB.
The dates won’t match your statement as they change after a few days, CB are investigating why this is the case for several months now. I don’t expect an answer.
If you must have bank feeds then suggest you find a bank that supports it and switch.
Clydesdale Bank brought in a new set of banking terms and conditions in 2018 and we are finding that if they are not updated as read it then will block Quickbooks from connecting as a third party. If you have been on your online banking and have no messages and you have turned on pop ups. I appreciate you have already called the bank to ask them to advise a third party need you to accept terms and conditions. If you have tried the above as well.If you could provide your email address in a Private message as it will get redacted in the main Community page and we will open a case to escalate this further.
We will need some screenshots to escalate this up to our banking team as there is an case by case investigation currently in place for this issue, we will email you when we have the case set up what is needed though
Ok thanks Emma
I have an open ticket and had no success a few months ago that I think might still be open.
I will raise another one with some screenshots and a video showing the issue.
I am not confident that Clydesdale will fix this problem as its been a few months plus the response they gave me saying I cant use 3rd party tools and I have been holding out for a solution as its going to take me considerable time and effort to either change my bank or move away from quickbooks.
If I could do the bank feed import, I would be semi happy, but the issue I have is one main bank account that I cant update or connect to and I have no just became a LTD company which means a brand new bank account I need to add and I cant even add the new one as an additional account to import transactions into.
Not an ideal situation.. but I will raise a ticket and see what we can do.
Thanks for you reply
When you try to add the new account as additional bank account what happens? Is that with the same bank?If you can download the transactions from your bank online to your pc and then upload via the banking section if you click on the drop down arrow next to update you should have file upload to bring in the transactions that way for the Clydesdale bank you are having issues with
I am just accessing the private inbox now to look at your most recent message
Okay I have had a look at the original case and we need to add screenshots with a timestamp on to get this escalated back up to the banking team. I am creating a new case and I am going to email you from the case in the next few minutes
The problem here though is I cant add the account to manually import the transactions into. I am going to give it another 4-5 weeks and then I will need to decide quickbooks or clydesdale as I need to submit my accounts end Jan. thanks Emma, appreciate your help
Its worth noting that the feedback I got from the bank and it says this is linked to proper business account setups as it worked for me fine before in my old personal number and basic account.
Here is some key comments from clydesdale support team
ME: I am waiting for a message from Quickbooks to verify quickbooks, can you advise please?
ME: Are there any plans to fix it? Alot of people affected and Quickbooks very popular for business banking and accounts
So is this a essential security change or is clydesdale just not compatible with quickbooks?
and will this 'new platform design' mean this might change or is this something else?
So will it work with quickbooks next year the new platform. sorry not quite clear.
Ive decided that I am leaving Clydesdale. I had issues with internet banking that ran on 3 months and now I cant connect to Quickbooks, so enough is enough for me.
I have just spoke with someone senior at CB, and they have said that they are currently working on a live feed integration system which will be launching around June 2019.
They are aware that they have been behind the curve on this, and have been less that upfront about the shortcomings of the new online backing service they launched in January.
In the meantime the only way to update your banking between Quickbooks and CB, is to manually download your transactions via CSV, and to upload them to QBs.
Ok thanks for the update.
They also told me January and that never happened.
I have been looking at alternative banks, but just have not had time to switch yet.
I will maybe give them a call and see if they are genuinely doing something to save me switching banks. The manual process is a nightmare.
Thanks for sharing these updates.
The new process, Open-Banking, which you can find out more about here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/uk/open-banking/
This will be the best place to get any updates on the progress of our Open Banking Implementation, which we fully expect will include Clydesdale.
