Why is it not downloading past bank transactions

Hello, Jade. Let me provide you with some solutions to help you access your bank transactions in QuickBooks Sole Trader.

Please note that the historical bank transactions available through bank feeds in the program depend on your bank’s policy. Some banks allow importing only up to 90 days of transactions, while others support up to 24 months. I recommend logging in to your bank’s website to check if they provide the option to download older transactions.

Regarding your second concern, could you share more about what happened when you attempted to upload a CSV file into the system? For instance, are you receiving any specific error messages or encountering issues with the file itself? Any additional details would help us provide more effective solutions.

In the meantime, when manually importing your transactions into the software, please ensure your CSV file follows one of the two supported formats:

  1. 3-column format: DateDescriptionAmount.
  2. 4-column format: DateDescriptionCredit, Debit.

Also, here are some additional tips to check and correct your CSV file before importing to ensure a smooth upload:

  1. While reviewing your file formatting, ensure that you remove any zeros from cells that should remain blank, leaving them empty.
  2. Ensure the Description column contains no numbers or special characters.
  3. Remove the word amount if it appears in the Credit or Debit column header.
  4. Use a consistent date format throughout the file, such as dd/mm/yyyy.
  5. Mac users should save the CSV file in a Windows CSV format to avoid compatibility issues.
  6. In some cases, banks include the day of the week in the Date column (e.g., 20/11/2018 TUE). You need to remove the day of the week by splitting the date and day into separate columns using Excel’s Text to Columns feature with a space as the delimiter.

Please feel free to respond with any questions or updates on your progress. We'll be happy to assist.
