Hello MollyMac,
If it's the first time you'll create an invoice with more than one currency, then you need to turn on the multicurrency feature.
Here's how:
Once multicurrency is turned on, you need to set up your customer for multicurrency. Whenever you create invoices, it will automatically detect its currency.
Note: You can only turn on multicurrency for new customers. For customers that are already in your QuickBooks, "This customer pays me with" is greyed out.
When you create an invoice, you will notice the currency under the customer's name.
Feel free to reach out if there's anything else that you need.

Hello,
I am using Quickbooks Online and have both domestic US clients and British clients. I would like to be able to invoice in the appropriate currency. I saw directions listed here from 2 years ago which don't seem to apply to my settings--I find no "multicurrency" option in my settings.
Can someone please advise?
Thanks in advance.
Tara
The multi-currency feature is available on two QBO versions, bryant.furlow.ll.
Only the QuickBooks Online Essentials and Plus supports this feature. You're probably using the Simple Start version that's why you don't see the option to turn it on.
You can refer to this article for more details: Does QuickBooks Online support multicurrency?
If you're dealing with customers or vendors with different currencies, you may want to upgrade your current version. Just visit our website and compare which one fits your business need, whether it's QBO Essentials or Plus. Here's the link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/uk/.
Please let me know if there's anything else you need. Thanks for dropping by.
Hello Sophia,
I would like to invoice in 3 different currencies for 1 customer. Is this possible without having to Add a new customer (with the same name) for each of the currencies?
What about self

Here's how:
- Go to the Gear icon.
- Select Company Settings.
- Select Advanced.
- Click Currency.
- Check the box labelled Multicurrency to turn this feature on. Note: Once multicurrency is turned on, the home currency is set and cannot be changed in QuickBooks Online. Read and check the box to acknowledge that you understand you can't undo Multicurrency.
- Click Save.
- Click Done.

- Go to the Customers tab.
- Click New customer.
- Fill up the Customer Information window.
- Click the Payment and billing tab.
- Click on the drop-down under This customer pays me with, and select the correct customer currency.

employed quicbooks, how to I use different currencies?
Hi Cotton2
The article is not for self employed UK version, it relates to the small business products where you would have to have at least the Essentials product to use multi-currency, see the attached pricing link as it lists the specifics of each product.
Hi, if I choose multicurrency (which cannot be undone), will the invoices reflect "USD" or "US$"? My clients are requesting that the invoices reflect the USD as currency and the dollar sign "$" will not suffice.
Hello there, CyndyR.
Once a customer is set up to pay you with USD, the invoice will show the balance due in USD and in "$" sign. I've got a screenshot as your reference.

I read that enabling multicurrency disables online payment of invoices. Does this mean that all of my customers will no longer be able to make payments online via the sharable invoice links? Or only for the customers who have a foreign currency enabled on their account?
Hello, @DGRapID.
Let me provide some clarifications about enabling multi-currency in QuickBooks Online.
Enabling multi-currency doesn't disable online payment in QuickBooks Online. When enabling multi-currency, all you have to do is to set up your customers with foreign currencies. This way, by the time they'll going to pay their invoices through online payments it will sync automatically.

When I set up the multicurrency I get the following error message: "An application error has occurred while processing your request : -20200". What shall I do?
Thank you
Hi cedric-hemmert
Are you attempting to set/switch on multi-currency from within the advanced setting or when you are creating a customer/supplier in another currency when you receive the error message?
I get the error when I attempt to set/switch on multi-currency from within the advanced setting.
Hello
Can you try opening an incognito/private window in the browser and logging in to QuickBooks Online and navigating to that page again and turn on multi currency.Do you get the same message?
Thanks
Emma
Hi Emma,
It worked! Thank you very much for so much responsiveness today.
Have a great day

Hello Ehughes133
Currently the Paypal app pay now option for customer to directly pay on the invoice only works with GBP invoices. There is not currently an app which will do this in our product at the moment.
Emma
Hello
I apologise for the misunderstanding.
When you refer to the fact your customers were using review and pay and then paying directly through bank transfer are you using a third party app for this integrated in the product or do you mean they then paid separately outside of the QuickBooks via bank transfer but they clicked on review and pay to view the full full invoice which was sent and they do not have that option any more?
Thanks
Emma
Hi Talial,
If they deal in different foreign currency, there is no need to create multiple accounts as this will mess up the system very very badly when looking at receivables and payables... instead one can use a clearing account and then transfer the funds into the clearing account at the same exchange rate. In this way the system will accept the payment in any currency and it will be reconciled easily as well without making a mess of the system.
I'm trying to turn on Multicurrency and getting an error:
