Thanks for bringing this concern to me, @Dynamic Treasurer.

I’m here help to ensure you’ll be able to include your employees Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) in their gross earnings.

Let's go to your Account and Settings and check your pensionable items. It could be the Mat payroll item is not selected on the calculation. Thus, your employee deduction is incorrect.

To start, you can follow these steps below:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Then go to the Gear icon.
  3. Select Account and Settings.
  4. Go to the Payroll section.
  5. Click Pension pay types to expand it.
  6. Locate and turn on the Mat item by clicking the Toggle button.  3.JPG
  7. Click Save, then Done.

Once done, run and view your employee payroll and check their payslips if it includes the Mat pay in their gross earnings.

Let me also add this resource that you can use for future reference. This link can guide through the detailed steps on how to print payslips in QBO.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you in managing your payroll. I’m always around to back you up. Have a wonderful day ahead!

Hi @Dynamic Treasurer,

Thanks for getting back to us. I have more steps we can try. Let's create a pay run so you can add the maternity leave. Let me walk you through the steps.

  1. Go to Employees, then select New Pay Run.
  2. Look for the employee's name. Then, choose Pay statutory leave.
  3. Tap Statutory Maternity Leave from the drop-down and fill in the information for
  4. Hit Apply.

For details, please refer to this guide: Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) in QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll.

Additionally, here's a guide that covers all tasks you can do when using the payroll feature: QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll Hub.

Keep me posted if you still have questions about payroll. I'm always here to help. Take care and have a wonderful day ahead.
