Anyone know how to change an employee's tax code? I have done it and hit 'save' but the tax code I am inputting is not saving? help!!!

Anyone know how to change an employee's tax code? I have done it and hit 'save' but the tax code I am inputting is not saving? help!!!

Hello, @nicola5.

 

We can change the employee's tax code by following these steps:

 

  1. Select Employees at the left pane.
  2. From the result, click on the employee's name you want to update.
  3. Go to the Tax Information section, then click on the pencil or edit icon.
  4. Update the code.
  5. Tap Save to record the changes.

If you're having a hard time updating the code from there, let's try replicating the steps using a private window to isolate the problem. Sometimes, the regular browser tends to hold onto information, and over time it could cause problems while working with QuickBooks.

 

To save you time, use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

 

  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Internet Explorer: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift +N

If that works fine from there, go back to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh. Also, using other supported browsers can help us narrow the cause of this behaviour.

Hi there

 

Sorry should have probably said, I am on advanced payroll. There is no option for the 'pencil to edit' or indeed an edit selection.

 

Can anyone else help?  Or do you have any other top tips?

QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll allows you to edit employee's tax information by following the steps provided by my peer Angelyn_T above. Since the pencil icon to edit isn't showing, I suggest performing the troubleshooting steps also shared by my colleague above. This way, the option to edit will appear.

 

If the option doesn't appear after performing the troubleshooting, I'd highly suggest contacting our Phone Support Team. One of the agents will investigate this matter further and help you change your employee's tax information so you can get back to working order.

 

To reach them, click the ? Help button at the top-right corner and select Contact Us to talk with a live agent.
