Please can pay journals be populated with the employee's name so when we run transaction reports on the payroll expenses account we can identify the employee. Both the Name and the Employee field come up blank in transaction reports, which is fairly useless when trying to analyse pay expenditure!
(The employee name is included in the Memo field in pay journals but I haven't found a way to access this in reports?)

Hi richard96 As you have discovered it's not possible to produce such reports. What we could suggest is when you run the payroll change the name of the journals to the name of the employees and then run a transaction list by date and customise/filter it by transaction and select journal entries. This will however bring journal entries relating to employment allowance and any other journals you may have created. You could then filter it by memo such as Gross Pay.
I've replicated your concern, Richard96.
We're unable to see the employee's name on the transaction reports. You can only see the transaction type and accounts linked to it.
You may pull up other payroll reports instead.

The payroll reports are no good because they are all fixed to the income tax year (6 April to 5 April). I need reports based on the company's financial year, whatever date range that may be.
Also, the P11 reports have to be run individually for each employee and then brought into Excel to summarise, which is too time consuming. The Gross to Net reports have to be run individually for each month and then ditto.
I just need a basic transaction report with employee names on.
