Hi LizaM1, the EPS report on the Advanced Payroll doesn't show the Employee Allowance specifically, but so long as EA is enabled within the settings, this information will be submitted in the background, and you should see this updated on your HMRC gateway after submitting (this can take up to 72 hours from submitting to sync). Please get back to us below if you have any queries!

Having exactly the same issue since 6th April no EPS showing in Quickbooks Standard Payroll. I have raised two tickets with support but they have yet to identify why EPS does not show anymore. It worked fine last year and i have shown the last years submission. Waiting for dev team to come back with an answer. For now it is broken and no-one at quickbooks seems to know why.

Hello LizaM1, you mentioned you are trying to claim for  Ea for 20/21 and 21/22. What payroll period are you in? When was your last EPS sent?

I don't think we have ever submitted an EPS?

We do the RTI Submission each month - I have done this for Month 1 21/22.

Thanks

EPS Submission

Hi @LizaM1,

Thank you for the prompt reply. I'll take care of these queries for you.

Declaring employment allowance is done via EPS in the first tax period of every tax year. During tax period one, QuickBooks Online (QBO) will have an EPS submission ready to submit if you already selected your eligibility.

Follow these steps to proceed:

  1. Highlight the Taxes tab.
  2. Select Payroll Tax.
  3. Choose the EPS and view the details.
  4. Hit Submit.
  5. Type in your HMRC credentials if this is the first time you're submitting this form.

See this article for more information about this form: Submit EPS to HMRC in QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll. You'll find a brief description of when an EPS filing is needed, or when you can't file it, as well as the reason why.

If you have any other questions about the Standard Payroll service, see this article: QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll hub

Post a reply if you have other questions about the EPS form in QBO. I'll be around to help you out.

Thank you @Ryan_M for your reply. It explains precisely what is required to do. The issue I am facing is that the EPS submission is not showing under payroll taxes for 21/22 tax year. As I stated EPS submission was carried out perfectly last year in May 2020 just after month 1 payroll run and I have shared this information with QB support.

This year 2021/22 I have checked in Payroll taxes and checked the final submission screen after completing payroll run for month 1, yet the Submit EPS button is gone!!! I can still send the FPS submission. That is fine. However, my yearly submission of an EPS for small employers relief is just not available anymore to see.

The last call with QB Support asked me to turn off Small Employers Relief in Accounts and Settings > Payroll then try and turn it back on. The QB equivalent of reboot your PC.

I would really appreciate if anyone else is having this same issue that EPS submission is just not showing anywhere to submit for this tax year 21/22 to comment and let me know so that the QB development team can figure out what is going on. Your help is appreciated.as this amounts to £3000 tax relief for this year, which with current circumstances in the world would be a lifeline to our family business.

Thank you

EPS Submission

Hi there, @LizaM1

To help you submit EPS using your QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll, please refer to these steps:

  1. Go to the Payroll settings then HMRC Settings.
  2. Scroll down to see the EPS settings fields.
  3. From the Submit Employer Payment Summary (EPS) monthly on the field, choose a date between the 5th and 19th of the month to submit your EPS automatically.
  4. If you pick Don't submit Automatically, simply go to the Reports tab to submit this form.
  5. Then, select the Employer Payment Summary report.
  6. To see this report you have to ensure that you have RTI enabled for the business.

For more info about this, please see this article: Submit Employer Payment Summary (EPS) in QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll.

For your concern, @Rob-CFone.

I highly recommend reaching out to our Payroll Support team. This way they can conduct a formal investigation to determine why the EPS submit button is gone. They can also do a screen-sharing session to check your account setup. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Help icon.
  2. Click the Payroll button.
  3. Choose QuickBooks Standard Payroll Hub or QuickBooks Advanced Payroll Hub as required.
  4. To contact support directly, type ‘Chat’ in the Type Something field and Enter
  5. Click Ask me a question or Live chat.
  6. Select Live chat.
  7. Enter a brief description of your concern. Example: Submit EPS button is gone.
  8. Then, select Let's talk.

Also, you can always seek self-help articles on our Community page to help you finish your QuickBooks tasks in no time.

If you need further assistance with submitting EPS in QuickBooks, please leave a reply below. I'm always around to help. Take care.
