I just got the link for exporting payroll data from QBD 2020. Is there an equivalent process for QBD 2019?
I am in the process of moving across to QB online but I need to export the old payroll data from QBD 2019 if possible? Don't particularly want to upgrade to 2020 just to do this as I have moved everything to QBO.
Hello Rjwb,
You will need to upgrade to 2020 and get on R6 to do the export. Once you have upgraded then you can export the information out of the account by going to files > utilities > export > payroll data.
You are unable to migrate payroll from desktop to online. It is a case of getting all the information out of the desktop and then selecting which payroll you need online and then setting all the information up on there.
The migration to QBO is complete so that's not a problem (don't get me started on that topic - absolutely ridiculous that this had to be done manually in this day and age - like changing ledgers used to be 30 years ago!)
How can I upgrade to 2020? I don't have a licence for it and the installation doesn't recognise my QBD 2019 licence no?
Hello, @rjwb.
Also, you can log in to the Customer Account Management Portal Site (CAMPS) to verify your QuickBooks 2019 license number.
On the other, here are easy steps for you to follow so you'll be able to upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop version:
Please refer to these additional resources about QuickBooks 2020 for your guide:
Upgrade to newer versions of QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise
Upgrade your company files after switching to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop
Any of the steps mentioned above will help you to experience the benefits of QuickBooks Desktop 2020. Comment below if you need anything else.
I downloaded the QBD 2020 installer and ran it but it said I have an 'incorrect product number'. I only have a product number for QBD 2019. What should I use?
Every QuickBooks license has its own product code, rjwb.
This is the reason why you're getting an error that says "incorrect product number".
An email is sent after a purchase of a new license is confirmed. This contains the license and product code for the new QuickBooks that you have. Please check you inbox to get the information that you need.
In case you're using the trial version of QuickBooks 2020, then you don't need to register it. Please close the window if you're asked to register and proceed to exporting your data.
Let me know if you need anything else.
I seem to be going round in circles on this one - please read the whole thread.
I have been using QBD 2019 for accounts and payroll.
I have moved everything across to QB online.
I want to export my payroll data from QBD 2019 (just for audit trail - I have already manually migrated the data to QBO)
I had en email telling me how to do this in QBD 2020, but I don't have a license for this.
I don't want to buy QBD 2020 because I am now using QBO going forwards.
So how can I export my payroll data from QBD 2019?
Hi rjwb,
Unfortunately it is not possible to download the payroll data from the 2019 version, you must upgrade to the 2020 release 6 to do this.
One workaround option you could try is downloading the trial version of the Desktop R6 and then opening your existing file within this, and then export the payroll data from here, however I cannot guarantee that this would work.
Thanks
I woulld not bother if I were you,
We have QuickBooks Pro 2020 with the very latest version R6p, we have been paying a fortune in monthy fees for years and years. (I beleive we were one of the very first customers to upgrade from Quicken.
Now all we get is an error code when trying to export our payroll data and thats it. Intuit do not seem to know how to help and keep asking why we are even trying to do it. Eventually after being on hold all day to various countries like USA, England, India, Australia and the Philippines. The last person could not even load QuickBooks on his computer, after about 15 minutes he said I would be better loging in to their online help, which he gave me the correct details for. I loged on and guess what, they told me to phone the first number I started with in the morning. Now I am here, no further on, but at least I managed a rant.
Yeah I figured I was on my own so I just went back through the data and printed all the P11s and P35s . Do it the old-fashioned way if you get no help from Intuit!
