HMRC have changed a tax code to 'OT week 1/Month 1' how do you do this in Quickbooks?

I've got the steps so you can update the tax code for your payroll, firstpremierss. I'm delighted to show you how.

Setting up the update on the tax code in QuickBooks would depend on your Payroll subscription. If you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll Core, follow the steps below.

First, let's check your notification settings. To proceed, kindly log into your HRMC PAYE dashboard and ensure all your notice options are set to Yes. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to the HRMC PAYE dashboard and navigate to Messages.
  2. Go to Notice Preferences, then Notice Options.
  3. Review the notice options and make sure all are set to Yes.
  4. After this, any new notice updates will automatically reflect in QuickBooks.

Next, enter your HRMC reference to receive notifications in QuickBooks. To do so, let's navigate through the Accounts and settings menu:

  1. Open your QBO account and go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Payroll settings and then pick the UK tax tab.
  3. Click the Pencil icon on the HRMC credentials section.
  4. Enter your HRMC reference and Accounts Office reference in the designated field.
  5. Once done, hit Save.

However, if you're using the QBO Payroll Advanced version, follow the steps to set up the Notice Options to Yes from the HRMC PAYE dashboard. Then, go along with these procedures to receive notifications in QuickBooks:

  1. Open your QBO account and navigate to the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Accounts and settings and pick the Payroll tab.
  3. Click the Pencil icon from the HRMC reference section.
  4. Enter your HRMC reference and Accounts Office reference in the designated field.
  5. After that, hit Save and then Done.
