How can i change the worker category for an employee from Not Assessed to Eligible Jobholder in the workplace pension section? I am using QB online with standard payroll

Hello, @Kightley.

 

You can go to the Workplace pension section so you can change the worker category of your employees in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Click on Employees at the left pane, then select Employees next to Payroll.
  2. Look for the employee's name from the result then click it.
  3. Go to the Workplace pension section and tap on the pencil icon at the upper right corner.
  4. Select the appropriate category from the drop-down.
  5. Tap on the Save button to record the changes.

Thanks for that but that hasn’t fixed the problem as when I go into the workplace pension section the worker category shows as “not assessed” and I can’t edit that. I have an advanced option which gives the option of excluding the employee from pension but nothing else.  Is the problem that the first months payroll has already been run for that individual?

You need to delete the payroll run before making any changes to the worker's category. With this, I encourage reaching out to our Support Team so you can request and have the category for your employee be changed.
