How do I claim retrospective Employment Allowance

My accountant has informed me that the company can back-date claims for NI Employment Allowance with HMRC for the period before I claimed Employment Allowance via Quickbooks Payroll. The HMRC website suggests claims can be backdated up to 4 years but this would need to be done via my payroll software, ie Quickbooks. Can anyone point me to somewhere where I can submit such a claim to HMRC via the Quickbooks payroll software please? Thanks in advance

How do I claim retrospective Employment Allowance

Hello Dee.gorgevic, thanks for posting on this thread, so it is not possible to claim employment allowance for a previous year in QuickBooks, as it's not possible to submit an EPS for it. So your best option would be to use basic tools to inform them you need to claim Employment Allowance for the year using the p32.  Here are the links to help you, user guide for basic tools ,  HMRCS Basic PAYE Tools and Employment Allowance

How do I claim retrospective Employment Allowance

Hi there, Cordelia.

Let me share some information on how you can process and claim your employment allowance in QuickBooks Online.

To do this, you'll need to roll back any of the payroll that you've ran, then enable the employer allowance within the payroll settings. You can run and download the payroll reports to help you re-run payroll.

After that, you can start deleting the paychecks. Like this:

  1. Go to the the Employees or Payroll menu.
  2. In the Payroll History section, select the most recent period.
  3. On the Payroll details page, select Action.
  4. Click Delete Payroll.
  5. Type Yes in the box, then tap Delete.
  6. Repeat for any additional pay runs you require.

Once done, you can check out this article for the detailed steps in recreating the paycheck: How to run payroll in QuickBooks Online.

To turn on the employer allowance:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Accounts and Settings.
  3. Select Payroll.
  4. Scroll down to the Employer NI relief section.
    • If you qualify for Employment Allowance, select Yes.
  5. Pick Yes if your business falls within the eligibility criteria for State Aid.
  6. Mark the box that is most relevant to your business sector.
  7. Click Save.

I'd also suggest consulting with an accountant or a Tax-Professional to guide you in handling your payroll.

How do I claim retrospective Employment Allowance

Hi

I need to claim the Employment Allowance for the 2021/22 tax year. Does it mean that when I delete all payroll month by month and then tick the employment allowance and redo the whole year, I have to re-submit every month to the HMRC? Or just the last payroll as Payroll Year end? I am worried that we'll have to pay the PAYE and the NI contributions again once I re-submit the whole year to the HMRC.
