Hi there, Dziadesign.
I'd like to know the specific rejection message you see and if you selected a reason for the late filing before submitting. This will help us determine the root cause of the issue and direct you to the resolution.
However, if you added a reason before submitting and the issue persists, we can perform troubleshooting steps to fix it. Please know that there are common FPS submission issues that can cause filing rejection.
You can see it below:
- Incorrect character in employee name.
- Employee address is too long.
- Incorrect NI letter for male employees.
- The NI letter cannot be B, E, I, or T if the date of birth is after the 5th of April 1961. You can check the Code:7955.
For the first submission issues I mentioned, please know that employee names in the FPS can only contain letters, dashes (-), and apostrophes (‘). Symbols, numbers, or other characters will cause a rejection.
For example:
- ✘ “John! Doe”, “Jane123”, “**Anne-Marie”
- ✔ “John Doe”, “Jane”, “Anne-Marie.”
To fix this, you'll need to edit the employee information in the FPS and delete the pay period containing the employee. Once done, recreate the pay run and finalise it. Then, submit your FPS.
Please read this article to learn the resolution steps to fix the other issues in filing FPS: Troubleshooting FPS submissions in QuickBooks Online Payroll.
