How do you fill out an EPS to make HMRC aware that I am deducting Paternity pay from my PAYE payment to them?

I filled in all the relevant info to submit my Full submission which is monthly the SPP was there but HMRC are stating I still need to pay this, I have been told I need to submit a EPS but am unsure how as it only highlights CIS payments not Statutory  payments.

Hi there Julie,

Thanks for reaching out with this.

The good news is that you can send the EPS through the Employer Settings and as long as the full SPP information has been entered into the employee’s record with the Payroll, the EPS will carry this information across to HMRC once submitted.

To clarify, the reason that the EPS highlights CIS is because this can be a variable input requiring you entering the figures here.  However rest assured, statutory payments are standardised information so all relevant details are sent on the EPS by default.

Let me know if you have any queries. Or, if you'd like to go through this over the phone, you can call our dedicated team on 0808 234 5337. Our lines are open between the hours of 8 am - 8 pm (GMT), Monday to Friday and calls are free from UK landlines and mobiles.
