You can delete and recreate your pay run to update the payroll journal, Antoinette. The instructions below ensure you can edit payroll payments to keep your record accurate.
Please know you can't make direct changes to the payroll journal in QuickBooks Core Payroll. Alternatively, you can delete and rerun your payroll to implement the necessary corrections.
To begin with, here's how to delete a pay run:
- Select Payroll, then Employees.
- Click the Payroll payment list below the Run payroll button.
- Locate the paycheck and choose Delete from the Action dropdown.

After that, you're ready to recreate the pay run. Please review all the information and ensure all changes are made before submission.
Moreover, you'll want to maximise the payroll reports available to review employee details, wages, deductions, and tax liabilities. You can find these data by selecting Payroll, then scroll down to the Payroll section in the Standard reports tab.
