When you finalise the payrun and you have selected lodge, the RTI will be submitted as long as you don't have it in test mode within the HMRC settings

Hi there, KatieC,

 

Let me help check the filing status of your VAT payment in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

The status will change to Approved by HMRC once your VAT submission is successful. You'll also be able to see the filing when you log into your HMRC account.

In QBO, you need to click the ▼ drop-down arrow against the return to review your VAT return after it has been submitted. Then, you will now see Approved by HMRC in the form.

Check out the Submit a VAT return in QuickBooks Online to learn more about the status of your returns. It includes detailed steps on how to mark your VAT as filed.

Hi All, i would like to know the same question about the RTI that i have submitted, you answered the previous question for the VAT not the RTI submission?

The steps provided by my peer above apply to the VAT submission's status, @BarryS2. But I'm here to ensure you're able to check the RTI that you have submitted through the program.

 

If you're using QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll (QBOAP), let's run the RTI Submission Messages report. This way, you can review the RTI's filing status. I'll guide you how. 

  1. Go to Reports from the left menu. 
  2. Enter RTI Submission/Lodgement Messages in the Search box and select it. 
  3. Set the Date Range
  4. Choose the Message Type
  5. Click Search

If you're using the Standard Payroll version, let's go to the Taxes menu. Then, select Payroll Tax. You'll be able to view your RTI submission and its status from there. See the screenshot below for your visual reference.
