Last year we had an employee on Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP). We have been advised that HMRC have not received a EPS. We have tried deleting and resubmitting a EPS?

HMRC claim they have not received. Please could anyone advise how we can send and then check the EPS to see if this includes the outstanding missing SMP paid to the employee over the last 8 months. Thanks

Hi there, @info1770. I can share with you some insights about submitting EPS to HMRC.

To begin with, let's make sure that the Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) is set up correctly in QuickBooks. This way, the system will handle the calculation and you won't have any issues with your payroll. You may review these links to learn more:

With regards to your EPS submission, please take note of the following requirements to be able to submit the data:

  • If no payments to employees have been made within the current or past pay period (no payment period is indicated). In other words, no FPS filings have been submitted.
  • To claim reimbursement for statutory payments (not including sick pay)
  • To claim the Employment Allowance, if entitled.
  • To show CIS Suffered for a period of time

Running your reports can also help you in making a new EPS submission and review the EPS submission dates. I'm adding these articles for more information:

Also, you may get in touch with our Support Team to help you with this. Our representatives can walk you through the process and help you further if there are payroll settings that need updates. Here's how to contact us:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
