National insurance number is invalid

Hi,

I have an employees letter from HMRC with their new NI number, however when I enter this on quick books it states " National insurance number is invalid ", It will not let me save this on the employees profile.

Is there a way to fix this as the employee was set up originally with NIN unknown (NINO) ticked.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

It looks like the employee had a temporary NI number which is not accepted by quickbooks.

Thanks

National insurance number is invalid

Hello Reni Reis,

Welcome to the Community page,

Can we ask which payroll product it is you are using in Quickbooks?

Is it our Standard payroll or our Advanced payroll?

The way to tell the difference is when you click on the employee tab on the navigation bar on the left-hand side of Quickbooks and 2 other tabs show up saying payroll and employees that is Standard payroll if no other tabs show up then it is Advanced payroll.

Great, can I check what the new NI number is which you are entering? 🧐

If you've got a draft pay-run saved, please try deleting this before editing the NI code.

Thanks

Hi There,

Would you be able to contact me directly for the NI number? I of course would not be able to share this on the community.

I do not have any draft pay runs

Thanks

Hey Jack,

Apologies, a moment of confusion on my behalf 🤦🏻 Yes please, don't share this on here!

Thanks for checking there are no draft runs - are you entering the full NI number including the two prefix letters and final letter, without spaces?

Please also try signing into an incognito/private browsing window to test if there is a cache issue that is preventing this from saving.

Thanks!
