Hi,

I have to apply sick leave for an employee. Employee has available hours but when I take the leave it appears as negative and deducts in the net pay.

Negative sick leave

Let me help you record the sick and vacation time of your employees, bookkeeper_1.

To keep track of your employee's sick and vacation accruals, let's make sure we set up the accruals correctly in the employee's profile. Let's ensure we enter the number of paid sick hours that are currently available for the employee to use. If deducted from the net pay, let's adjust the leave accordingly.

To learn more about setting up leave adjustments and sick time, please refer to Leave Adjustments in QuickBooks Online Payroll article.

If the same thing happens, I'd recommend reaching out to our Support team during the UK business hours, so they can help you with this.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Click on Help and select Contact Us.
  2. In the text box, enter the summary of the scenario and click Let's talk.
  3. Choose Call Us or Message Us. These options are available during UK business hours.

You can also check out the QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll Hub for references with other topics.

Fill me in if you need a hand with accessing employees sick leave or any QuickBooks related. I'll be here to help. You have a good one.
