UK Payroll overtime and bonus

How do I add overtime and bonus payments when running payroll? At present it won't let me pay more than the employees salary divided by 12.

Thanks

Re: UK Payroll overtime and bonus

Hi Dale.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community.

This would depend on which version of the Payroll software you are currently using. Either Paysuite or QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP). You can find this out by clicking on the Employees tab on the left of your QuickBooks, in the top left you will then see either the phrase 'Powered By Paysuite' (indicating you are using Paysuite) or you will see two tabs displaying 'Employees' and 'Payroll' (Indicating you are using QBOP).

If you are using Paysuite, you will be able to record Overtime or Bonus Payments under the Variable Input tab on the Employees page. Here you will be able to select different types of payments, of which Bonus and Overtime will be listed and be able to record a rate for the overtime and the amount the employee has worked or just enter a a straightforward figure for the Bonus. This will add alongside the amount of pay that the employee would normally get from the their monthly Salary.

If you are using QBOP, you will be able to set up your own payment types and set up your own payments for both Overtime or Bonus (amongst others). To do this, if you select one of your employees from the employee list and click on them, you will open the employee profile. You will then see a green (+) in the top right of the page where you will be able to add different payments or deductions. You would set them up from this page (You wouldn't need to set up a new one for each employee as this will take effect over the whole payroll) and add the actual payments for both overtime and bonus (or whatever you have created) when you run the payroll. Again this would appear alongside the basic salary for the employees in question.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help with and I will be back in touch.

Re: UK Payroll overtime and bonus

Thanks this is working great.

However, now I need to pay different tiers of overtime.  For example, 1.5 and 2 for the same employee in the same month.  How can I do this?

Thanks

Re: UK Payroll overtime and bonus

Hi Dale123.

This would depend which version of the software you are using.

If you are using Paysuite you should have the option for overtime under the variable input tab. Once you select overtime you will be able to select the rate to multiply the hours.

If you are Using QuickBooks Online Payroll if you click on the (+) under the employees profile at the bottom of the page, you will have the option to enter a rate of pay for overtime which can then be adjusted for a particular additional rate.

Let me know if you are still having problems and I will be back in touch :)
