Yes please. I have now set up a monthly pay schedule. I have paid week 53 so everything is finished for the year 2020/21. Quickbooks still won't let me change my employees from weekly to monthly because they have been paid weekly in the past.
Can you help?
Thanks for getting back here, KevinG.
If you have paid your employees on the existing pay schedule, changing it to a new pay frequency is unavailable. You can only assign a pay schedule at the beginning of creating the employees.
You have the option to mark all of your employees as a leaver. Then, re-create them all with the new schedule.
I have these articles for more details:
For any additional questions related to the pay frequency, or other concerns, please leave a comment below. I'll be around to answer them. Thanks.
hi im trying to do the same but what your basically saying is it can be done but only if you buy the advanced package???? and also if I make them a leaver I would have to issue p45s nd set them back on ??? im sure thats illegal as I could basically se this to change her contract of employment. this is absolutely disgraceful trying to con people out of more money in order to do a simple thing
I understand what you're feeling now.
For now, an employee can only be associated with one payrun on a Standard Payroll. There's no way we can change this.
The only option we have is to either re-create all the employees again so they'll receive new payroll ID numbers or migrate to Advanced payroll and set it up all in there.
Let me share these articles about pay schedules in QBO Standard Payroll:
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to us again if you need anything else.
There is Obviously a way it can be changed. Give you more money. Basically quick books are holding it back to get more money out of there customers fact. What you are telling me to do is wrong on so many levels. You are expecting me to take employees that have been with my company for years and hand them a p45 and start them as a new employee. An unscrupulous boss could use this to reset holiday entitlement and all sorts of contract changes. I’m sure that’s illegal. And if I do it the other way it make me have to do 2 lots of payroll one weekly saying nil and one real pay run monthly. That makes it look like they have 2 jobs and also makes more work for me. I’m using QB to make my life Easty not make more work for my self. I’m telling you know if this can’t be resolved correctly I will be moving to xero as this is disgusting holding customers to ransom in order to do things correctly and legally.
I take it by the lack of response that iv basically hit the nail on the head? im still here now wondering what to do as I still need to change my employees over to monthly. so if I move over to advanced payroll how would this be done from there ? or if I give in and actually make them all leaver will I then be able to delete he weekly pay run thats then got no employees attached to it ?or will I be doing nil payruns for the weekly schedule?
Hello Greenwood, thanks for coming back to us here, so you have two options if you want your employees to be on a monthly schedule then you either have to mark them as a leaver and then enter them all in again as new employees and set up a a monthly schedule and put them on that schedule (you wont be giving the employees a p45 what you want to do is terminate the employees the day after the last pay run and then hire the employees the same day and then put them on the new pay schedule or migrate over to our advanced, if you want to do this if you ring the support line on 0808 234 5337 they will be able to put this request forward for you.
Thanks for getting back to us Greenwood, once you run payroll for an employee, it's no longer possible to edit, change or delete this, so you would instead simply no longer run this, and running nil payrolls would cause EPS reports to be generated. 🙂
But when I have a schedule set up weather it’s weekly or monthly quick booked always prompts me to run it even though there are no employees attached to this schedule??? So how do I NOT run a payroll on a schedule when one is set up when quick bikes won’t allow me to do the one I want as there is one showing overdue ???
Hello Greenwood, so the the main page of the payroll the first box that says next payroll overdue lets go, if you click the drop down arrow next to where it says lets go if you select the monthly one it will just bring up that payroll for you to run and not the weekly going forward.
