On my payroll page there is an exclamation mark next to my workplace pensions and when I click onto the enter pension details the details are already showing. So why do I have the exclamation mark?

I have replicated your concern here on my end to see the exact error you're getting. However, I was able to successfully enter my Workplace Pension details. Let's first make sure that you've entered all the necessary information for your Workplace Pension. Once completed, log out from your QuickBooks account and log in again. Doing this, your system will be updated.
If you're still getting the same prompts, let's access your account using a private browser or an incognito window. From here, we'll be able to isolate this concern for a possible browser-related.
If you're able to log in and view your Workplace Pension without the prompts, I'd recommend clearing your browser's cache and cookies. However, if you're still getting the same results, you can use a different browser or device. You can check this article to fix unexpected browser behaviours: Troubleshooting browser problems.
Lastly, you can also use the Browser Health Checkup Tool to check any issues with your browser’s health and its compatibility with QuickBooks Online.

I have tried the steps below and am still getting the same error
This has only been visible on my payroll page for about the last six weeks so not sure why it has appeared when no changes have been made by me.

As I have reviewed the screenshot you've provided, it appears that the start date is not updated. To get this resolve, I recommend have your Pension start date be update.
After doing the process above, go to the Payroll page again and check if it's now resolved.
