Getting paid is a priority for every entrepreneur. We're guessing you've all got stories to share about your experiences asking for, waiting for or getting (or not) your hard-earned payment. We want to hear all about it!
Tell us your favourite or, perhaps, your least favourite moment related to getting paid in the comments below!
I once had one of my clients, running very late on payment, come back and ask me to justify my pricing structure after the fact! Apparently the manager who approved our contract was no longer at the company, and the executive director was asking questions. We had a signed contract and the company obviously owed me the money for services rendered, but I took the time to supply the executive director with an extremely detailed analytics report and project post-mortem. After that he felt much more at ease and the company turned out to be one of my best continuing clients.
I collaborate with brands on a regular basis and payments are agreed before the work brief is initiated. However, payment isn't always certain as agreements are usually discussed via email and they're very informal. I have collaborated with various brands who have been late to pay me. Luckily, at that time, I didn't need the money for any outgoings. However, as I develop my business... Every penny counts! I am now going to be more strict with my payment agreements.
@Will1k I saw that you're self-employed too! Have you got any stories to share about getting paid or *not* getting paid? Have you been in a similar situation to me? Share your stories below... I would love to know!
Hi, @Karsty!
I hope this week has started well and you're feeling prepared for the cooler months. I can't believe October is here already
Do you have a story about getting paid or not getting paid? I know you have had some issues in the past regarding this topic. I would love to hear more!
