Learn how to sign in to QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Online Accountant with just your email address or phone number. Whether you’re signing in from a new device or switching accounts, accessing QuickBooks is simple and secure.

What is Identity First (IDF)?

QuickBooks uses Identity First (IDF) to help you sign in quickly, even if you’ve forgotten your user ID or password. Just enter your email address or phone number, and we’ll guide you through the rest — no need to remember everything.

Sign in from a new device or browser

If you’re using a new laptop, phone, or browser, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the QuickBooks Online sign-in page..
  2. Enter your email, user ID, or phone number.
  3. (Optional) Tick Remember me to save your sign-in for next time.
  4. Select Sign in.
  5. Check your email or phone for a 6-digit verification code, then enter it and select Continue.

Note: We’ll remember your latest sign-in details on that device, so you won’t need to re-enter them every time.

Sign in with a different user ID

If you’ve previously signed in with a different Intuit account (for example, a client’s or colleague’s), here’s how to switch:

  1. Go to the sign-in page.
  2. Select Use a different user ID.
  3. Enter your email, user ID, or phone number.
  4. (Optional) Tick Remember me.
  5. Select Sign In.
  6. Enter the verification code sent to your email or phone, then select Continue.

Update your phone number for sign-in

Your phone number helps with sign-in verification. If it’s not up to date:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Select the profile icon in the top right.
  3. Choose Manage your Intuit Account.
  4. Update your phone number in your account settings.
