Add or update a client from Companies House in QuickBooks Practice Manager

Need to add a client or link them to Companies House? No problem! This article will show you how to add a client from Companies House, link an existing client, and update client information from Companies House.

Choose the section to view the instructions.

  1. Go to Clients.
  2. Select + Add client from Companies House
  3. Search for a company name or registration number. 
  4. Select Search
  5. Select Add client. Details like client name, key dates, address and director information will be added automatically. 
  6. Review the client details like you would when adding a new client normally, and select Save client.

Tip: If you select the View more link next to the company registration number, it will take you to the company’s page on the Companies House website.

  1. Go to your Client list. 
  2. Select the client to open their details. 
  3. Select Show empty fields
  4. Next to Company registration number, select the pencil icon. 
  5. Enter the registration number and select Update

  6. To pull in more information from Companies House, select the three-dot icon. 
  7. Select Update from Companies House.
  8. Review all the information and select Update.
  1. Go to Clients
  2. Select the three-dot icon, and then Update dates using Companies House
  3. View the date difference between your clients and Companies House.
  4. Select Update records. You'll get an email notification when the updates are done.

If you need to update multiple clients' information, export your client list from Practice Manager. Then make the updates in the exported file. When you're done making the updates, save the document, and import your client list bank into QuickBooks Practice Manager.
