Manage your Accountant Preferred Pricing plan and Accountant discount clients

Learn how to manage clients who are part of your Accountant discount plan and review its charges.

As a Accountant, you can add clients to your Accountant discount plan to get discounted rates on QuickBooks. Need to know which clients are already part of your Accountant discount plan? Here's how to review your Accountant discount plan and manage wholesale discount clients.

See your Accountant discount charges

  1. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Settings âš™ and select Subscriptions and billing.
  2. Select the Billing details tab.
  3. Review your current and next bill.
  4. Review your payroll-specific expenses.
  5. From the Payment history section, review your past bills.

Add a new client to your Accountant discount plan

Here's how you can add new customers to Accountant discount and start a subscription for them.

If your client already has a QuickBooks subscription, here's how to take over a client's direct billing.

Error PLT - 8000

The PLT - 8000 error message is when either the country or phone number is missing from the company settings.
These sections will need to be completed to allow the billing to be updated.

Error - 81511

The - 81511 error message is a decline error message that is happening between the customers bank and our processor based on the information the customer puts into the system. Please have the customer validate the billing information and ensure that it is correct. If it is correct, the customer will either need to contact their bank to allow the charge, or use a different card.

Error - 81624

Something's not quite right. Please update your payment information and try again. If the issue persists, please contact support. This message (Error code - 81624) might be due to payment authorisation failed.
Customer needs to either use a different credit card or contact their financial institution (bank) to understand why they are not relinquishing the funds.

Add a client to a bureau license

  1. Go to Clients and select Client list (Take me there).
    Note: If you are using ​QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Clients.
  2. Find the client and select Edit client from the Actions column for the license you wish to use.
  3. Change the placeholder name to the client’s name, then select Save.
  4. Once the client’s name has been changed, select the QuickBooks icon QuickBooks logo. next to the client name, and change the company name within the license.
  5. If you want to add the client, ask them to invite you to become their accountant, then go to Settings ⚙ and select Manage users.

Review your Accountant discount clients

To check a client's company name, subscription status, and product they're using:

  1. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Settings âš™ and select Subscriptions and billing.
  2. Select the Accountant-billed subscriptions tab to review your Accountant clients.

Here's how you can upgrade or downgrade a clients' QuickBooks Online subscription.

Remove a client from your Accountant discount plan

When you remove a client from your plan, they'll start paying for their subscription themselves. It doesn't impact their accounting data in any way.

Note: Their subscription won't be the same rate you paid since you got an Accountant discount.

  1. If you haven't already, make your client the primary admin of their company file.
  2. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Settings âš™ and select Subscriptions and billing.
  3. Select the Accountant-billed subscriptions tab.
  4. Find the client you want to remove.
    Note: If the client is currently inactive, make them active first.
  5. Select the â–Ľ dropdown from Action column, then select Transfer billing to client.
  6. Select Continue to transfer, then select Confirm transfer.

After you remove a client, they have read-only access to their QuickBooks company until they update their billing info. They can see their accounting data, but can't make changes.

Client steps to remove themselves from accountant-billed plans

Your clients can choose to remove themselves from the accountant-billed subscription plan and start paying for their subscription themselves. You'll be notified via email if your client makes this change.

Notes:

  1. In QuickBooks Online Accountant, go to Settings âš™ and select Subscriptions and billing.
  2. Select the Accountant-billed subscriptions tab.
  3. Expand the client account.
  4. Select the â–Ľ dropdown from the Action column, then select Cancel.
  5. Select Confirm transfer.
