Why doesn't anything happen when I select a button or link?

If you click a button or link and nothing happens, that means that pop-up windows are being blocked. To troubleshoot this issue, please select the appropriate browser below, and follow the steps.
Note: This article is for customers using QuickBooks Online (Advanced, Essentials, Plus, and Simple Start) and QuickBooks Sole Trader.
Firefox (Windows or Mac): Check for pop-up blockers
- Open Firefox, select Menu ≡, then select Settings.
- Under Privacy and Security, Scroll down to Permissions.
- Go to the Block pop-up windows uncheck the box, or select Exceptions… and add qbo.intuit.com as an exception by clicking on Allow.
- Select Save Changes.
- Once adjusted, sign out, close Firefox, reopen it, and sign back in.
- Try accomplishing the task you were blocked from before.
Note: The steps may vary depending upon your browser version.
Things to consider:
- There are various toolbars that have their own pop-up blockers. The menu options or icons for the pop-up blocker will vary between different toolbars.
- Try hovering your mouse pointer over each icon; text should appear describing what the icon does. Normally, when you're hovering over the pop-up blocker icon, it will list the number of pop-ups blocked or current on/off status.
- If your QuickBooks pop-ups are still blocked, you can use the Windows hotkey by holding down the CTRL key before clicking the button or link that brings up the pop-up window.
Google Chrome: How to check for pop-up blockers
- Open Chrome, select More ⋮, then select Settings.
- Under Privacy and security, select Site settings.
- Select Pop-ups and redirects.
- Select the option to allow or disallow sites to send pop-ups or use redirects.
- (Optional) If you prefer to keep pop-ups blocked, add an exception for QuickBooks instead:
- Select Add next to Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects.
- Enter qbo.intuit.com.
- Select Add.

- Select Safari, then select Preferences.
- Select Security.
- Uncheck the Block pop-up windows box to enable pop-ups.
Another way to enable pop-up in Safari is select Safari > Preferences > Select Websites > Click on Pop-up Windows > On the right side you will see Currently Open Websites > Select Website > From the dropdown menu select Allow.
