Add and manage filters in QuickBooks Practice Manager

by Intuit Updated 1 year ago

Looking for an efficient way to manage and organise your clients and tasks? The filter tool in Practice Manager lets you find specific clients or tasks that meet a specific criteria.

We’ll walk you through the steps of how to filter clients, create new filters and save filters for future use.

For this example, let's look for a specific group of clients in your firm. We'll focus on sole traders who have more than 5 open tasks assigned to a specific team member.

  1. Go to Clients.
  2. Select Filter. If you need to, you can select the toggle to show all your archived clients.
  3. Select Add new condition
  4. Select the field – these are standard client properties like name, email and type, as well as all other client fields.
  5. The filter condition fields depend on the type of field. For example, if you’re searching for a Client type, you can choose is or is not from the list of available client types.
  6. Filters can contain more than one condition. In this example, all clients found by this filter must meet all three requirements.
  7. Select Apply filter.

Note: You can't save task filters like you can client filters. But you can save a task filter URL as a favourite by saving it as a bookmark on your browser.

Save a client filter:

  1. Once the filter is applied, select the Save filter.
  2. Give the filter a name.
  3. Select Save

Save a task filter:

  1. Once the filter is applied, select Bookmarks on your browser.
  2. Select Add to bookmarks

Give the bookmark a name and Save. You can now easily access the saved task filter using this bookmark.

Access all saved filters:

  1. Go to Clients
  2. Next to View, select the ▼dropdown field.
  3. Select the saved filter from the list.
  1. Go to Clients
  2. Next to Filter, select the three-dot icon.
  3. Select Manage saved filters.
  4. Select Edit to make changes, or Delete to remove the filter.
  5. Select Save.

Tip: Save the QuickBooks Practice Manager resource page to your bookmarks for easy access to helpful articles and step-by-step instructions.
