Test sequence for PDF printing issues

These steps will help diagnose a wide range of PDF printing issues in Windows.

Please follow the steps in order:
Part 1: Make sure you can print a local PDF document
- If you have a PDF document saved to your hard drive, open it from within Acrobat/Reader from File menu and test to be sure you can print it.
- If you do not have a local PDF document, use Windows Search and look for all files and folders, using *.pdf.
- If you cannot print a local PDF file, choose one:
- If you have not yet updated or repaired Adobe, go to Updating, repairing or reinstalling Adobe Reader and follow the steps, then return to this page and begin Part 1 again.
- If you have already updated and repaired Adobe, complete Part 2 and 3 below.

Part 2: Make sure you can view and print a PDF document from your browser
- Open the browser you use to access QuickBooks Online.
- Open a PDF in your browser. If you don't have one, you can use: Self Assessment: Employment (SA102)
- You should be viewing a PDF inside the browser window. If you cannot view the PDF, try bypassing the plug-in.
To bypass the plug-in:
- Select Start from your Windows taskbar.
- Select Programs or All Programs, then Adobe Reader.
- from the menu, select Edit, then Preferences.
- Under the Categories: section select Internet.
- Select the box to uncheck Display PDF in browser.
- Select OK.
- Allow any installer window to complete.
- Restart your computer.
- Once complete, go back to the UK Gov website and try to print the SA102 form.
- If you cannot print the file from the UK Gov website, choose one:
- If you did not update or repair Adobe in a previous step, go to Updating, repairing or reinstalling Adobe Reader and follow the steps, then return to this page and begin Part 2 again.
- If you have already updated and repaired Adobe, go to Troubleshooting printing in Windows for further troubleshooting help.
Part 3: Make sure you can print a PDF document from QuickBooks Online
- Log in to QuickBooks Online as usual.
- In your QuickBooks Online file, open a transaction.
- Select Print at the bottom of the document.
- If you cannot print the document, choose one:
- If you did not update or repair Adobe in a previous step, go to Updating, repairing or reinstalling Adobe Reader and follow the steps, then return to this page and begin Part 3 again.
- If you have already updated and repaired Adobe, go to Troubleshooting printing in Windows for further troubleshooting help.
