Test sequence for PDF printing issues

These steps will help diagnose a wide range of PDF printing issues in Windows.

Please follow the steps in order:

Part 1: Make sure you can print a local PDF document

  1. If you have a PDF document saved to your hard drive, open it from within Acrobat/Reader from File menu and test to be sure you can print it.
  2. If you do not have a local PDF document, use Windows Search and look for all files and folders, using *.pdf.
  3. If you cannot print a local PDF file, choose one:

Part 2: Make sure you can view and print a PDF document from your browser

  1. Open the browser you use to access QuickBooks Online.
  2. Open a PDF in your browser. If you don't have one, you can use: Self Assessment: Employment (SA102)
  3. You should be viewing a PDF inside the browser window. If you cannot view the PDF, try bypassing the plug-in.

To bypass the plug-in:

  1. Select Start from your Windows taskbar.
  2. Select Programs or All Programs, then Adobe Reader.
  3. from the menu, select Edit, then Preferences.
  4. Under the Categories: section select Internet.
  5. Select the box to uncheck Display PDF in browser.
  6. Select OK.
  7. Allow any installer window to complete.
  8. Restart your computer.
  9. Once complete, go back to the UK Gov website and try to print the SA102 form.
  10. If you cannot print the file from the UK Gov website, choose one:

Part 3: Make sure you can print a PDF document from QuickBooks Online

  1. Log in to QuickBooks Online as usual.
  2. In your QuickBooks Online file, open a transaction.
  3. Select Print at the bottom of the document.
  4. If you cannot print the document, choose one:
