Pay Apprenticeship Levy in QuickBooks Advanced Payroll

The Apprenticeship Levy is a tax that employers pay to HMRC to fund apprenticeship training. If your business is liable, Advanced Payroll allows you to enter and report these payments.
This article is for customers who use QuickBooks Online Advanced Payroll.
Note: Apprenticeship Levy for connected companies is not supported in Advanced Payroll.
Set up Apprenticeship Levy in QuickBooks
- Go to Payroll settings, then Business settings and select HMRC settings.
- In the Apprenticeship Levy section, enter the following:
- Are you required to pay the apprenticeship? Select Yes or No.
- Apprenticeship Levy allowance: Enter the amount you are entitled to.
- Reported amounts in other software: Select Yes if you have already reported any Apprenticeship Levy payments this financial year in other software. Enter the amounts paid and the allowance used so far.
- Select Save.
Report Apprenticeship Levy in QuickBooks
- Follow this link to complete the steps in product
- Search for the P32 Report.
- Select the Apprenticeship Levy tab to see:
- Tax Month: The month the levy applies to.
- Total payroll bill: Total earnings subject to Class 1 National Insurance.
- Apprenticeship Levy fund amount
- Apprenticeship Levy Allowance to be deducted
- New Apprenticeship Levy total: The total the employer will pay and report in the P32
