UK QuickBooks Desktop will cease to be supported outside the UK & Ireland

From Feb 28, 2021, if you are using UK QuickBooks for Desktop and your business does not reside within the UK or Ireland, it will no longer be available in your region (excludes South Africa customers). 

If you are affected you will receive a 180-day notification, these are being sent by email from September 08, 2020. After February 28, 2021, you will not be able to access your data using UK QuickBooks for desktop. Note we recommend that you retain a backup copy of your desktop data file.

  1. Please ensure you  back up and save a copy of your desktop data file
  2. Export your lists and generate a detailed chart of accounts report plus open transaction reports to help you set up QuickBooks Online
  3. Enter your opening balances and import your data into QuickBooks Online. Finally, re-create or import your open transactions and adjust your open balances accordingly.

Can you migrate my data?

We have included instructions and links above to enable you to move your opening balances and list information (customers and suppliers) into QuickBooks Online or another financial management system.

How do I move my data?

Whilst there is no method of uploading data from desktop UK to QuickBooks Online if your business resides outside the UK or South Africa, you can export opening balances and list information from your UK desktop product. Open transactions can be recreated in your new financial management system.

Can I use another region's QBDT?

No. QuickBooks UK desktop data files are not compatible with QuickBooks desktop from other regions.

Why is this happening?

From February 2021, only businesses that reside within the UK or Ireland can be supported on UK QuickBooks for desktop.

Where’s my new version?

UK QuickBooks for Desktop 2020 is the last version that will be supported for customers outside the UK or Ireland up to and including February 2021.

Will I still get supported?

Yes, customers outside the UK and Ireland will be fully supported on UK QuickBooks for desktop until February 28, 2021.
